Rather large for chicks perhaps but this is what baby Grey Herons look like (congratulations to Ralph for guessing correctly!). I first noticed them a few days earlier and can't believe how much they've grown in that time. They'll soon be out raiding the local goldfish ponds I'm sure. Sorry for the softness of the photo again but they were about 90 metres away on one of the islands of Walthamstow Reservoir's Heronry. Perhaps I need a boat. |
